From one teacher to another
Reduce Confucianism to the word "respect" and it collapses into a cliche, so we build it back up piece by piece: filial piety, the five relationships, then ren and li as two distinct ideas before students ever meet the junzi. By the time they open the Analects, the ideal actually carries weight instead of sitting there as vocabulary. I picked a different passage from the one in my Han Dynasty lesson, so a class running both toolkits doesn't read the same lines twice.
