Plants and How They Grow
Plant parts, seeds, pollination, and growth images for K to 3 science units and diagrams.
When I teach plants, I want children to see the whole process, not just a flower in a pot. This collection gives me a plant with roots, a dandelion seed puff, a maple seed pod, sun and rain, photosynthesis arrows, a bee pollinating a flower, and clear images of stems, leaves, flowers, fruit, and vegetables. It suits kindergarten through grade 3 units on plant parts, needs, life cycles, and how plants spread seeds.
One useful lesson is a sequencing page: students place the seed, sprout, growing plant, flower, and new seed in order, then add arrows and a sentence about what each stage needs. I'll use the color art for a wall diagram or vocabulary cards and the blackline art for students to label, shade, and annotate. The drawings are simple enough for young learners but specific enough to support a discussion of roots, sunlight, water, and pollinators. Both color and blackline versions are ready to print.
