Insects and Bugs
Insect life and body-part art for elementary science lessons, labels, and observation pages.
I made this set for the moment when students start noticing that a "bug" is more than a tiny dot on the sidewalk. The art moves from an insect body diagram to a ladybug and larva, dragonfly and nymph, grasshopper, cricket, honeybee, garden spider, and other familiar examples. There's also an egg cluster, cocoon, magnifying glass, and bug jar for observation work. It fits K to 3 life science units on classification, structures, and animal life cycles.
I'd print the color images for a sorting center, then let students match each adult insect to its young form and explain one body part. The blackline versions work well for a labeled notebook page or a quiet early-finisher task. I like that children can color the pictures while they practice words such as thorax, abdomen, six legs, and metamorphosis. One file set gives me bright display pieces and low-ink pages without asking me to redraw anything.
