Energy Light Heat and Sound
Light, heat, sound, and electrical energy images for elementary physical science lessons.
This set helps me connect energy ideas to things students already recognize. It includes a flashlight, light rays, a shadow puppet, mirror reflection, lightning, a glowing bulb, a plug, battery, circuit loop, solar panel, wind turbine, thermometer, drum, guitar, xylophone, ear, and sound waves. I'd use it in grades 2 to 5 units on light, heat, sound, electricity, and energy transfer.
For a specific activity, I'd give groups the color images and ask them to sort each one by the kind of energy it shows, then defend one tricky choice. Students can trace a circuit, show how a shadow forms, or connect a vibrating drum to the sound-wave diagram. The blackline versions are better for a science journal because children can add arrows, labels, and observations around each picture. I included both color and blackline files, which lets me make a clean anchor chart and a low-ink practice page from the same set.
