Being a Good Citizen
Clip art for teaching everyday responsibilities, fairness, honesty, voting, and helpful choices in elementary civics.
Citizenship gets clearer when the examples are ordinary choices instead of big slogans. That's where this set helps me, with a citizen kid holding a flag, helping hands, a rights-and-responsibilities scale, voting steps, a ballot box, a recycling bin, volunteer gloves, a peace sign, and a star citizen badge. The mix gives me concrete ways to talk about rules and looking out for other people.
This fits kindergarten through fifth-grade units on citizenship, classroom communities, government, and civic responsibility. I'd place the ballot box and empty ballot slip beside a mock class vote, then ask students to label the fair choices they made. The handshake, lost-and-found box, donation box, and watering can also help me build scenarios about honesty, sharing, service, and caring for a shared place. I can make a bright display with the color art, then let students annotate the same ideas on blackline civics pages.
